NYFW RUNWAY HIGHLIGHTS: PART 3

Helmut Lang: Tailored to perfection with geometric motifs throughout, coveting Helmut Lang’s latest for Fall from the sidelines was a”dream come true” for any geek chic show-goer like yours truly. Inspired by the Guggenheim’s Picasso Black and White exhibition by way of Richard Prince’sPrince/Picasso show, HL showcased a striking  line with a Cubist motif that emulated what was described as a “sharp slouch” of the silhouette. The first looks coming down the catwalk included a coat, a jacket, and then a dress with heat-transferred laser-cut film shapes swooping and arcing across their fronts.

Hervé Léger: Max and Lubov Azria have all the right moves to make wearing a cap alright with a bandage dress. From stretchy sheaths that were revamped in an ocelot-print jacquard or embellished with either gunmetal hardware or a matte rubberized beading to separates that encourage more layering than ever, the Fall 2013 Hervé Léger collection is packed with pieces for the confident trendsetters — with an array of body cons.
